Multiplay Stereo MK3: Connect Sonos, AirPlay, Bluetooth & TV Audio to B&O BeoLab Speakers
The Almando Multiplay Stereo MK3 is a versatile device designed to integrate various audio sources, especially modern streaming services, with Bang & Olufsen (B&O) and other active speakers. This allows users to enjoy their music with ease and without the need for complex setups or constantly switching on their B&O system.
Key Benefits and Features for Modern Music Streaming:
- Seamless Integration with Streaming Services:
- Apple AirPlay: Connect an Apple Airport Express, and you can wirelessly stream music from your iPhone or iPad directly to your B&O speakers. The Multiplay Stereo MK3 ensures your B&O system doesn't even need to be turned on, and you can control the volume directly from your Apple device.
- Sonos Multiroom: Expand your B&O system with a Sonos Port or Connect. This enables access to an "endless selection of songs and radio stations from around the world," including services like Spotify. You can create a high-quality, easy-to-use multiroom system, playing different music in various rooms or synchronizing the same music in "party mode."
- Bluetooth Module: For direct wireless audio streaming, the Multiplay Stereo MK3 includes a Bluetooth module compatible with iOS and Android devices.
- Automatic Source Management and Ease of Use:
- Automatic Switching: The device features automatic source switching for up to four audio devices. It automatically turns on your BeoLab speakers as soon as an audio signal is detected from a connected B&O system or another device.
- Intelligent Signal Detection: The Multiplay Stereo MK3 recognizes an incoming audio signal and converts it into a standard Powerlink signal with switching voltage. If the source stops providing a signal (e.g., muted or switched off), there's a 2-minute delay before the Powerlink signal is turned off, preventing speakers from going into standby during short pauses in audio, such as between songs or during audiobooks.
- Volume Control: It offers 100% compatibility with volume control directly from your Apple devices when using Apple Airport Express, and from the Sonos app when using Sonos Port / Connect / ZP90.
- ALMANDO CONTROL App: A free app is available for fine-tuning settings, including adjusting volumes between connected devices and making sound adjustments like treble, bass, and loudness.
- Plug & Play Installation: The Multiplay Stereo MK3 is designed for simple installation; "simply plug it together, press an option switch if necessary and the device is ready for use after a few seconds."
- Versatile Connectivity:
- Inputs: It offers diverse input options, including two B&O Powerlink (8-pin DIN) inputs, one of which can also be used for RCA via an adapter cable, a digital Toslink SPDIF input, and a digital COAX SPDIF input.
- Converter Functionality: The Multiplay Stereo MK3 acts as a converter, allowing you to connect BeoLab speakers to devices from other manufacturers even if you don't have a B&O audio system or television. It converts all audio signals into a standard Powerlink signal.
- B&O Devices Without Masterlink: It enables newer B&O devices (e.g., Beovision 11, Beoplay V1, Beosound 5 Encore) that lack a Masterlink connection to share the same BeoLab speakers with older B&O devices. Intelligent priority switching ensures the currently active source is always heard.
- Lip-Synchronized Audio/Video: When connecting TVs to B&O systems like Beosound 5, the Multiplay Stereo MK3 can prevent lip-sync issues by avoiding unnecessary analog-to-digital-to-analog conversion of the audio signal, ensuring sound and image remain synchronized.
Speaker Compatibility:
- Connectable BeoLab Speakers (with Powerlink connection/8-pin DIN socket):
- BeoLab 1, 2, 3, 4 (excluding PC version), 5, 7-1/7-2/7-4/7-6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 2500, 3000/4500/5000, 4000, 6000/6002, 8000/8002, Penta.

- Multiple speakers can be connected to the single output by daisy-chaining them or using a Y-adapter. A subwoofer like the BeoLab 2 can also be connected, with other speakers then connected to its Powerlink outputs.
