B&O shows that B&O designers manufacture a unit that is simply a small piece of joy, which is made to lift the heart and get a smile.
This is BeoTime.
A visual and tactile delight, this is a bell in the shape of a flute, with a control surface and three slightly smaller keys with LCD screens in it. It is beautifully made of a single piece of aluminum with the four keys on the top surface.
Functionally, it is an alarm clock, either with its own alarm or activate a B&O sound or TV system - it has an alarm time with the option to choose between either a 12 or 24-hour format.
There is a sleep function as well, and if desired, the unit can be used as a remote control for all B&O systems with the ability to change source, channel and volume through a fairly intuitive set of controls.
The control surface is a square piece of aluminum with a central square button. The other controls are to activate the alarm function and a motion sensor that is automatic and ensures that the screen is always the right way up.
The screens sideways against the aluminum frame on the control surface that surrounds the small LCD screens. These have a white / blue backlight that is activated by pressing BeoTime.
The first screen either shows the status of the alarm, provides a time and a source, or acts as an indicator of the function you are using by being a navigation panel. The screens are a simple monochrome design but clear with a very nice scrolling.
The second and third screens are the time panel with the first being hours and second minutes. These are doubled as screens when you use BeoTime as a remote control or when you use the more complex functions.
This is a groundbreaking product? Yes. I can not think of either a remote control or a watch that has this charm displayed by the amazing BeoTime.
Would make an ideal gift for either a loved one or a friend, with or without a B&O system. For those without, it shows the best in design and ergonomics for B&O lovers or a new audience designed by B&O that is timeless in its form and function.
