RMB4 Function
A OneRemote RMB4 converter is a controller module designed for installation inside a Bang & Olufsen Beo4 remote control. The controller monitors which keys are pressed, thereby keeping track of which source is turned on and currently being operated.
An RMB4 modified Beo4, intended for controlling a non-B&O TV, will remain passive until the TV button is pressed. When this happens, it will 'take over' the Beo4 and change the IR codes sent from the Beo4. According to a carefully planned layout, some of the buttons will get new functions and send codes directly to the TV.
Immediately after the TV button is pressed, an "on command" will be sent to the non-B&O TV, which thereby turns on. After this, the numeric keys, Menu, Text, and source selection work directly to operate the non-B&O TV.
Likewise, there are dedicated and direct buttons for Guide/EPG, program step, and back, achieving a unique and easy operation of the TV.
RMB4 Options
Most RMB4 converters can be set up to function differently in specific situations. So-called options can be set, which are easily entered directly on the modified Beo4.
An example of an option can be in connection with an RMB4 converter for operating a non-B&O TV. If there is a B&O radio in the room, and the audio output from the TV is connected to the radio's AUX input, the TV sound can be played on the B&O speakers, and a significant sound improvement can be achieved.
With a simple option, it is possible for the RMB4 modified Beo4 to function as follows:
- Pressing TV simultaneously turns on both the non-B&O TV and the B&O radio, which has the AUX input open. The AUX input is connected to the TV's audio output, so there is immediate TV sound in the speakers.
- Numeric keys, Arrow keys, Menu, Text, and Back commands now directly operate the non-B&O TV. Likewise, there are dedicated and direct buttons for, among other things, Guide/EPG, program step, and back.
- Volume and Mute buttons DO NOT operate the non-B&O TV when this option is set, but solely adjust the sound directly on the B&O radio.
- The Standby button simultaneously turns off both the non-B&O TV and the B&O radio.
RMB4 converters are very different, depending on which devices they are to control, and the setups they can be part of. Therefore, the available options also vary greatly for individual types. See the connection guides for the individual RMB4 converters. Guides can be found together with user manuals for each type in this webshop.
RMB4 Installation
An RMB4 converter is an electronic module designed for installation inside a Bang & Olufsen Beo4 remote control. It comes with a detailed installation guide with clear pictorial illustrations.
An RMB4 converter can be installed in all versions of Beo4. The RMB4 converter automatically adapts to the model it is installed in.
Installation requires soldering on small SMD components, and therefore good soldering skills are required to install an RMB4 converter. OneRemote provides a 24-month warranty on the RMB4 converter module itself, but provides NO warranty in connection with faulty installation.
Installation of an RMB4 converter in a Beo4 can be done in several ways:
- With sufficient soldering skills, one can install an RMB4 converter oneself.
- A local electronics repair technician can perform the installation.
- The existing Beo4 can be sent to OneRemote for installation.
- OneRemote also sells both refurbished and new Beo4 remote controls with installed RMB4 converters.
